FULLTIME FIREFIGHTER
Fulltime Firefighters work 10 hour shifts covering day time hours when paid call firefighter availability is at its lowest.

Full-time Firefighter Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Current California Class C driver’s license or equivalent. Note: Within 6 months or the hire date, the firefighter shall have a “firefighter” endorsement for his/her driver’s license.

Current California or National Registry EMT and/or be enrolled in a EMT-Basic certification program.

Completed the Santa Cruz County Basic Fire Fighter Academy, or currently attending the academy with favorable reviews. If the firefighter has a California State Firefighter I or Certificate of Completion from an accredited fire academy, he/she shall provide copies of their training certificate.

CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) completed after June 1st, 2022.

Current CPR certification to the Health Care Provider level
Desirable Qualifications:

Local Santa Cruz County Experience

Local resident within 10 minutes of the fire station

Certified as an NREMT Paramedic.

Bilingual in the Spanish language
